1/7/2024 0 Comments Dan gui tar![]() This let him access both series and parallel switching for multiple pickup combinations, and thus extract 12 different tones from a standard Stratocaster.Īll the pickup combinations are in phase, so if you're looking for out-of-phase tones, this arrangement may not be your cup of tea-at least not without some mods to yield these additional sounds. Instead of using three simple SPDT on/off switches, he used two DPDT on/on switches for the neck and middle pickups, plus a DP3T on/on/on switch for the bridge pickup. Though the concept wasn't new, Armstrong gave it a twist. The basic idea is simple: You replace the standard 5-way switch with three individual toggle switches-one for each of the three pickups-to coax as many different sounds as possible from one guitar. It was very common during the whole “super-strat" era of the '80s and early '90s, and it's still a landmark today. Let's start with his most famous wiring scheme: the original Armstrong “super-strat" wiring. If you're unfamiliar with his legacy, I suggest you take a moment to check him out here. He uses a Lehle 1at3 SGoS switcher to go between different amps and cabs.Over the years I've been writing Mod Garage, I've received requests to explore wirings created by the late guitarist, luthier, session musician, and boy genius, Daniel “Dan" Kent Armstrong, who, sadly, passed away in 2004. Next to his pedalboard is his Bogner channel switcher. Walter Becker’s pedalboard is in constant flux, but when we caught up with him it included a Sonic Research tuner, Barber Tone Press compressor, Eventide Pitch Factor, Eventide Space (which he uses only for reverb), Moog Moogerfooger MuRF, Pigtronix Envelope Phaser, Boss Noise Suppressor NS-2, and an MXR Carbon Copy. He also employs a 3 Monkeys Virgil, Bogner Ecstasy, Retro Channel RR1, and Satellite Mudshark. According to Becker’s tech, Dave Rule, nearly any combination of amp and cabinet is possible on any given night, however there are a few mainstays: primarily a ‘70s 50-watt Marshall 2204 MKII through a Marshall 4x12 cab loaded with NOLA Celestion speakers and a rubber grill cloth used in conjunction with a Suhr Badger 18. At the moment, he is using amps from Suhr, Bogner, Marshall, Ampeg, 3 Monkeys, Retro Channel, and Satellite. Quite the tonal alchemist, Becker relies on a bevy of different amps, cabs, and speakers. All the Sadowsky guitars are strung with Ernie Ball. The third knob has a push/pull feature that activates the neck/bridge combination with the 5-way switch in either the neck or bridge positions. The tiny three-way switch control a special preamp that offers separate buffer and gain boosts. In the neck/middle and middle/bridge settings, the pickups are wired for hum cancelling output. It features custom Lollar P-90 pickups, spalted maple top and swamp ash body. Watch the video below (and click here to see our Jon Herington Rig Rundown):Īlways the experimenter, Becker brings a number of guitars with him on the road including models from Sadowsky, Hahn, Frye, Fender, Fano, and Kauer.īecker’s main guitar is his signature Walter Becker model Sadowsky. The acid did not appear to react with the coating (aluminum?) at all. No success even with a full strength application. I then attempted to remove the partial mirroring on the lens (as was recommended by the reviewer of the Daisy red-dot) first by muriatic acid. I did chip it in a corner but not in a way that would matter. Here are the details: I was able to pop the lens out by using an exacto to remove the bezel and then by forcing the lens (which was also glued) out. Note however, that removing the lens coating was NOT worth it, I recommend you stick with the lens as it comes. In summary, adding the 10k ohm potentiometer was worth it though a 5k ohm or possibly even smaller would be better. As it was, it was a piece of cake and left me just plain thrilled! It is quite a view to be looking at the space station with all the stars whizzing by in the background. I am positive that without the red-dot I would have been very frustrated and likely would have completely failed to track the space station. I did have to keep making minor adjustments to keep it centered and twice I lost it by hitting left when I should have hit right but each time I jumped away from the eyepiece and successfully reaquired by using the red-dot sight. When it did appear I looked through (and around with my other eye) the red-dot sight and started the scope tracking when they came together (within a second or two of the autostars predicted time).Still looking through the red-dot, I fine tuned the scopes tracking and I then jumped onto the eyepiece (18mm SWA) and there it was nicely in the field of view. I was able to look for the space station to appear with my head up. I obtained current ephemeredes from (meade's data was out of date) and, much to my surprise it all worked. Passage in our area that night only lasted two minutes. Another nicety is that when I am looking through the sight with my left eye, my right eye is in the clear and able to focus on the same piece of sky.How did it work out? I chose my first test to be my first attempt to acquire a satellite (the space station in fact). The red dot also shoots below the right side of my camera (mounted on a JMI piggyback mount) and so it is still usable with the camera mounted. I'm left eyed so I have adjusted the stock finder as far back as it will go and can easily look through the stock finder, the scope eyepiece and the red-dot sight. A less impatient person than I will do those mods prior to hot gluing the sight to the scope (as I have now prohibited myself from normal disassembly). I have not yet cleaned the coating off the lens (I'm going to try muriatic acid) nor put in a potentiometer for brightness adjust (I'm going to try a miniature 10k when I find one). It was easy to hold it at the desired angle where I wanted it but I was sure to get the alignment right as I put it in. I took the metal mounting flanges off the sight and just hot-glued the sight to the scope right-side-down. You have to desolder a wire, cut a little glue and straighten a little bent metal on the switch to get it out.I used a 'higher tech' approach to mount it on the scope than some other product reviewers as I couldn't figure out a way to get rubber bands to work. Moving the switch was also no big deal if you don't mind cutting a new switch hole (I used a dremel tool with a twist drill bit and cleaned it up with an exacto). Disassembly is straight forward (see picture) as is reassembly of the windage adjustment 'on the other side'. ![]() I moved the switch and the 'windage' adjustment from the right side to the left side of the sight. Upon getting it home I determined that to mount it in the appropriate location (see picture) I would have to make some minor modifications to it. It has a significantly larger window than the daisy. The previously reviewed Daisy finder was on sale for $10 dollars but, for an item such as this, I figured 'why go cheap' and spent $13 instead on a crossman 'wide angle' sight. The details follow: After reading about the assorted finder solutions on the Mighty ETX site and being very frustrated with the lack of a useful finder for non-automatic operation with my ETX-125, I headed off to the local quality finder store (aka Kmart) to look at gun scopes and red-dot finders. Users Who Have Read This Thread (Total: 2) A Better Finder Attributes 6 21stSteve Stearns reports: 'I just installed a $13 Crossman red-dot sight on my ETX-125 and I am thrilled with the results. 1/7/2024 0 Comments Type error in thonny![]() Where can I find input ( ) function in Python architecture? In case you are not familiar with strings in Python then I suggest you check out these suggested readings – After that, you can process that string in whatever way you want. The input function of Python library takes the data from the user and then it converts it into a string. The output of the input function is always a string. That is how the Python input function works. After that, the interpreter evaluates the value entered by the user and proceeds ahead to execute the next statement. Once the prompt has been displayed to the user then the interpreter waits for the user to enter the value and press the enter key. Consequently, if the input function call contains a prompt, then the interpreter prints it on the screen after checking it for any errors. When Python interpreter comes across an input expression, it first checks whether there is any prompt to display or not. With Padlet I get to see students write on the wall, as they write. Once students are done you can skim through the answers and discuss some, but with some classes this can become frustrating as lessons can slow down while you try and find jems in the mess of post-it notes. ![]() When students post manual post-it notes they frequently huddle around the front waiting to get to the board, stick up their answers, and get back to their seats. As soon as they arrived I switched to Padlet. I used to use traditional post-it note walls before my school obtained class sets of iPads. Secondly, as some students will take more time than others to post ideas you can have students who post quickly analyse and group different responses into themes, categories or compare differences in responses. Firstly, you can encourage students to take their time and “pinch” on a tablet or zoom on a PC\laptop (using ctrl and up scroll) to really analyse an image in detail before they write their ideas. Now, this has many benefits over a traditional post-it wall. Students can then post their ideas around the image or scanned text and it will appear on your interactive whiteboard in real time. So you can get students to really analyse an image or scanned text and to express their opinion about it. Padlet allows you to post an image to a wall as you create it or after you have created it. In this post, I’m going to share five good ways I’ve seen Padlet used successfully. However, if it is used well, Padlet can really enhance learning. When Padlet is held up to the SAMR model I’ve heard teachers complain that it only augments or substitutes a manual post-it note wall.
